The Dog Skool has Arrived! - Open Evening 28th October 2008
We are proud to announce that A Dog Called Wander will be starting our new style of Dog Training Classes, The Dog Skool at the Lincolnshire Showground! The classes will be small and intimate with the emphasis on giving you more access to the trainer and thus learning more.
The classes will focus on dealing with everyday problems such as socialisation, distractions and interactions with a core of basic obedience and clicker training. A Dog Called Wander prides itself on using no harsh or dangerous training techniques and focuses on reward based methods for you and your dog.
Our Open Evening will be held at the Lincolnshire Showground on Tuesday 28th October at 7.30pm. There will be drinks, nibbles demonstrations and an opportunity to discuss your exact requirements as well as sign up for any classes/courses of interest.
Term starts two weeks later on the 11th November. Due to the sizes of the classes places are limited so early booking is advisable. If you would like to come to the open evening or are interested in joining a class then please register your interest on our website www.adogcalledwander.co.uk or call 01427 788053
There will be no dogs allowed at the open evening to prevent canine chaos.
A Dog Called Wander is proud to announce the launch of our sister company, Pet Seekers. Summer is now officially over and Autumn has us in its grips. With this in mind we are looking for photos with an Autumn Theme. This could be anything from a well wrapped up dog to a cat dashing amongst fallen leaves. The choice is yours. All we ask is that the pet be your own pet, that you took the photo and that you have permission to use the photo.
All photos received will be displayed on the Competition Page and the winner will be chosen by one of our sponsors. To send us your photo please email petcare@adogcalledwander.co.uk with your photo, name, address and the title Autumn Photo. The deadline for receiving entries is November 15th 2008. The winners will be announced on the 22nd November 2008. The winner has a choice of any of our products and a free weekend stay at A Dog Called Wander.

Fireworks and Bonfire Night
The time has come for fireworks, a guy on a bonfire, toffee apples and family fun!
However for many animals it means loud noises, flashing lights, fear and panic. Here at A Dog Called Wander we are able to give you a few words of advice to help your pet through the firework period.
- Create a safe place in the house where your cat or dog can hide, if it is usually behind the sofa make it more comfortable by placing a bed in there.
- Let your pet hide, do not try and move your pet out of their hiding spot as you will be making the problem worse
- Close the curtains and windows
- Turn up the volume of the radio or television to drown out the noises outside
- Do not give your pet unneccesary attention as this can cause more stress and reinforce the panic behaviour
- For serious noise phobias seek veterinary and behavioural advice
To help prevent Bonfire night becoming an issue in the future, seek behavioural advice early in the year to allow the changes to take effect.
